Melbourne based creative CARLOTTA HEY has had a long and extensive career in the fashion industry.

Originally from Europe with a background in product & fashion design (RMIT), Carlotta spent the last two decades designing for the fashion industry; she has worked with one of the largest European chain stores and an iconic denim label here in Australia until venturing out into her own creative label.

Her artworks are a representation of her interest in the human and feminine form. She tries to capture the presence of her subjects and entices you into their world.

Colour theory has always been a huge part of Carlotta’s process and she is quickly becoming known for her monochrome colour pallet.

The lack of colours only emphasises the idea of taking a moment to be still and processing emotions.

That way Carlotta found a way to communicate feelings she doesn’t have adequate words for.

The central theme that unites all of her work is the mixture of the traditional with the unconventional. Her artworks are explorations of identity, perception and subjectivity expressed using figure, colour, movement and shape.

Once finished with an original artwork she digitalises the piece and prints the artwork on textiles. Her first collection of oversized handmade silk scarves is designed in Melbourne and made with great attention to craftsmanship and premium quality raw materials. CARLOTTA HEY only works with small manufacturers across the globe whose traditional skills and techniques guarantee authentic, high quality production results.

Carlotta currently lives and works from her studio in Melbourne, Australia.
